About Us

At ESA Registry Europe, we’re here to simplify life for you and your Emotional Support Animal (ESA) by providing the support you need. As a private ESA registry and support network serving individuals across the European Union, we are committed to promoting the crucial role ESAs play in emotional and mental well-being, as well as advocating for greater recognition of hidden disabilities.

We’re more than just a registry — we’re a community. Our mission is to make you feel supported, and stress-free, ensuring you have the tools you need when navigating housing, travel, and daily life within Europe. But our work doesn’t stop there. We actively support awareness and advocacy efforts to push for stronger recognition and protection for ESAs across the EU. Over the years, we’ve proudly assisted countless ESA owners, and we’re honoured to be part of their journey.

Legal Status of Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) in the European Union

Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) do not have a unified legal status across the European Union, and their recognition varies by country. Unlike service animals, which are legally protected under disability rights laws, ESAs do not have automatic access to public places, workplaces, or housing. However, some EU member states allow accommodations for ESA owners under existing disability legislation, particularly in cases where an ESA provides essential emotional or psychological support.

In certain situations, landlords may permit ESAs in rental properties with pet restrictions, and some employers may consider allowing ESAs in the workplace as a reasonable adjustment for conditions like anxiety or PTSD. Travel policies also differ between airlines and transport providers, with some offering accommodations for ESAs when supported by appropriate documentation. Since legal protections vary, having ESA documentation can help explain why you need reasonable adjustments.
